The Modern English and American Literature and Culture Doctoral Program (MODA) offers a broad range of topics from the Long Eighteenth Century to Contemporary Literature and Culture. We encourage both traditional, cultural and literary-historical perspectives and interdisciplinary approaches informed by philosophy, cultural studies and contemporary critical theory. Faculty members who act as supervisors work on a large number of topics, covering various fields of English, Irish, American and Canadian Literature and Culture.
We try to make PhD life as inspiring as possible by organizing annual doctoral conferences, and workshops, as well as research groups focusing on specific topics, such as popular culture, the question of the human (including posthumanism, and dehumanization), or literature and the Bible. We help students prepare their research for publication in both national and international venues.
Our working language is English, and we are proud to have a large number of international doctoral students from all over the world. Our faculty members have publications with the best international publishers.
